Based in Sydney, David Banes is Regional Manager of Symantec Security Response for Asia Pacific. In this position, David is chartered with building the SARC team for researching, analysing and developing repair technology for viruses. Banes also is a press contact for Asia Pacific.

David is Vice President of AVAR, Association of Anti-Virus Asia Researchers and editor of the Symantec Security Response Newsletter and is a frequent contributor to technology publications across the Asia Pacific region as well as a popular speaker at regional seminars and other security-related conferences.

David has a strong background in all aspects of the industry, having worked in the anti-virus market for the last eleven years. Before joining Symantec, Banes worked for several years at Dr Solomon's (S&S International PLC), where he was instrumental in helping the UK-based anti-virus vendor establish a significant market presence in the United States.
