Jim Meneely is currently Manager Information Assurance at the Department of Industry and Technology (DoIT), in Perth, Western Australia.

Jim has had roles as CIO at the Department of Contract and Management Services (CAMS) and Director of Information and Technology at the Department of Education of WA.

Prior to his career in the West Australia public sector Jim spent some 8 years in the mining industry in Zambia and South Africa and 4 years with major consulting firms in Canada and Australia.

Current projects include:

• Development and implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) methodology (based on ISO 17799:2001 and AS 7799.2:2000) for whole of Government use in WA;
• Creation of a website to provide access to the methodology for the WA public sector;
• Development of a database tool to complement the ISMS methodology (Assessed Risk and Information Assurance (ARIA) system;
• Commercialisation of the ISMS methodology and the ARIA system; and
• Creation of WACERT (in co-operation with AusCERT).
