Avi Freedman

Avi Freedman is Chief Network Scientist for Akamai Technologies, where he oversees the development and application of Akamai's network and content delivery technologies. In addition, Mr Freedman works with customers to maximize their business and operational performance on the Internet. Mr Freedman, in his former role of Vice President and Chief Network Architect for Akamai, led the growth and management of Akamai's globally distributed network.

Prior to joining Akamai, Mr Freedman served as Vice President of Engineering at AboveNet, where he led the architecture, implementation, and operation of AboveNet's ISXs and of the AboveNet global IP network.

In addition to his current role at Akamai, Mr Freedman is on the board of FastNet, an ISP that acquired Net Access, the first ISP in Philadelphia, which he started in 1992.

Mr Freedman studied computer science at Temple University in Philadelphia, and is a frequent contributor of articles and tutorials to networking publications and conferences.
