Nick FitzGerald

Nick FitzGerald worked as a support consultant in the IT department at the University of Canterbury for close to ten years, specializing in IBM PC systems and applications. In 1997 he moved to the UK as editor of the only print magazine specialized in covering computer virus and antivirus issues, the Virus Bulletin. Since his return to New Zealand in 1999 he has worked as an independent antivirus consultant and as an antivirus researcher under contract to Computer Associates. Further to those professional tasks, he has continued writing about computer security and antivirus issues as the compiler of the IDG (New Zealand) 'Virus & Security Watch' weekly e-mail newsletter and is a regular speaker at Virus Bulletin, AVAR and other security and antivirus conferences. Nick is well-known on various Internet mailing lists for his extensive knowledge of antivirus issues and his (sometimes scorchingly) frank and to-the-point opinions.
