Getting to the Gold Coast

The AusCERT Asia Pacific Information Technology Security Conference will be held at the Surfers Paradise Royal Pines Resort on Queensland's Gold Coast. This is an easy drive from Brisbane, and is renowned as a holiday and tourist destination.

QANTAS has been appointed the official airline for the AusCERT2002 Conference. They are offering special conference airfares in economy class as well as business class. This is in addition to their normal published discount airfares. Conditions and specific seating class availability apply to all fares.

In practice you'll find the conference airfares are almost as cheap as the very lowest prices offered conventionally but are more flexible. For all flight reservations and fare conditions please telephone:

- QANTAS on 1 800 684 880 (for Australian Delegates) and quote Association Profile Number 2913641. The Association Profile number must be quoted to access the special event airfares.

Arriving at Brisbane Airport

For international and interstate visitors arriving at Brisbane Airport, the options for travelling to the Gold Coast are via coach, taxi or airtrain. The journey takes approximately 75 minutes.

Via CoachTrans (website details http://www.coachtrans.com.au)
This is a door to door service with the passengers letting the driver know where they want to be dropped off. Pre-booking can be arranged and is recommended for early and late arrivals. Alternatively, passengers can go to the Coachtrans Customer Service Counter to get the bus on arrival. Bookings are essential if travelling on the last service at 11pm.

  • Frequency is almost hourly commencing at 6am with the last three buses leaving at 8:30pm, 9:45pm and 11pm.

  • Approximate cost is $151.00 for a taxi

    • Airtrain
    The Airtrain service leaves from Brisbane Airport every ½ hour for Robina Station, Gold Coast. A bus can then take you from the train station directly to the Royal Pines Resort. Tickets can be purchased from the train terminal at Brisbane airport or can be booked beforehand on +61 7 5574 5111. For further details please visit their web site: www.airtrain.com.au. Please ensure you book your return trip to ensure pickup at the Royal Pines.

  • Cost: $25 from Brisbane Airport to Robina with connecting bus to the Royal Pines
  • Cost: $18 from Brisbane Airport to Robina, Gold Coast.

    • Arriving at Coolangatta Airport
    For those arriving at the Gold Coast's local airport, Coolangatta, the following options are available.
    Via Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle (website details http://www.gcshuttle.com.au/shuttle/reservations)

  • Pre-booking can be arranged and is recommended and can be performed on line at the site above.
