Mark McPherson
Training and Education Manager, AusCERT

Mark McPherson's career has spanned more than a decade in the IT industry, the last six years of which have been spent as a security analyst and IT trainer with the Australian Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCERT).

Mark's computer security experience includes both front-line and management roles in incident response and course development and delivery, and he currently occupies the position of Manager, Training and Education with AusCERT.

Mark has delivered incident response and security training courses to both Australian and international audiences at various levels including some University lecturing and technical staff training for law enforcement, government and private industry groups.

Mark has also presented at many local and several international computer security conferences including the FIRST and the AusCERT conferences.

In 2001, Mark was designated AusCERT's team representative to FIRST (Forum of Incident Response Security Teams), and at the 2002 FIRST conference Mark was elected by the membership to the FIRST Steering Committee and FIRST.ORG Inc board. His tenure in this role concludes in June this year. www.first.org

Mark is a member of the academic board for the ISSPCS security certification scheme project: www.isspcs.org

Mark is also an active member of and AusCERT liaison to Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) - a regional initiative of cooperating CERT teams in Asia Pacific. www.apcert.org
