Australia's National Computer Emergency Response Team
World Class Conference: Be Part of It

Paul Ducklin
Sophos

Paul Ducklin is Head of Technology, Asia Pacific at Sophos. In this capacity he looks after the 24/7 services delivered out of Sophos' Sydney office. This includes customer-facing support, as well as anti-virus and anti-spam research.

Paul joined Sophos from the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in 1995. He has held a variety of roles within Sophos, including heading up Sophos' global technical support operations. One of the world's leading virus experts, Paul has given papers and presentations at various industry events including Virus Bulletin, ICSA and AVAR conferences. He has also written several articles on the virus threat and is a respected industry spokesperson.

Paul is pretentious enough to like being referred to as a Computer Scientist although he once served a tour of duty in the marketing department due to a mix-up over desks. But is also modest enough not to point out that he has reached the acme of recognition as an anti-virus researcher which is being mentioned by name in a virus, in case you were wondering.

Unusually, according to some commentators on the technology industry, Paul has hobbies outside his day job. These include driving around in cars other people think are rubbish, and going on and on about how much better FreeBSD is than Linux.
